PLAZAS |
Morelia is the capital of Michoacan, the ancient mountain kingdom of the Tarascans. The city was officially founded in 1541, although a Franciscan monastery had been in the area since the 1530's.
The city is located about 300 kilometers west of Mexico City and about 340 kilometers southeast of Guadalajara and about 90 kilometers south of Guanajuato in the beautiful rolling hills of northwestern Michoacan.
